Geagea to Obama: Exercise your power, aid Syrians

NNA - Head of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, addressed an open letter to U.S. President Barack Obama censuring lack of any action in Syria following an alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians near Damascus.

The veteran politician described acts of President Bashar Assad as "ethnic cleansing" which stopped at nothing; he, via his regime, tortured women, children and babies, destroyed cities upon their inhabitants, and, most recently used potent chemicals against them, leaving many dead.

"The regime has crossed a red line," he said in his letter.
Geagea blamed the inaction of the United States and other key countries for the rapid deterioration of the Syrian situation.

"It is already too late for more than one hundred thousand who are dead. You could have done something for them Mr. President, but you did not," he said, highlighting the fact that the number of casualties is rising every hour, and there were still many potential victims in Syria waiting to be saved.

He implored Obama to "implement his duty to protect [them]" for the sake of humanity and all that is holy and good.
