NNA - MP Antoine Zahra on Thursday strongly condemned the double aggression a Syrian helicopter carried out against the town of Arsal and deemed that Lebanon should file a complaint, along with the Arab League, on the violation of its sovereignty.
The Lebanese Forces MP who spoke during an interview on LBCI TV, considered that the complaint must be filed through the permanent ambassador of Lebanon to the pan-Arab organization in order to spare Foreign Affairs Minister the pressure to distort the stances of President of the Republic.
In this context, he hailed the recent statements of the Lebanese President in terms of the aggression in Arsal, and voiced sorrow for the absence of a government and of constitutional institutions to embody these stances.
Zahra said that it was within the role of the Lebanese army to respond to any aggression made against Lebanon.
He then criticized the Hezbollah intervention in Syria.
"Hezbollah's role is to resist the occupation, and not to occupy the territories of others," he stressed.
The MP considered that, despite the victory of the Lebanese party and Bashar al-Assad in Qusayr, the Syrian regime will not last long.
He stressed that his party did not want Hezbollah to be represented in the new government.
Separately, Zahra called Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam, and urged him to form a government as soon as possible without any portfolios to be given to Hezbollah.
