Hariri responds to Nasrallah's speech marking 'Liberation Day'

NNA - "The Resistance and Liberation Day is definitely a precious commemoration for all the Lebanese, especially our people in South-Lebanon and West-Bekaa who paid the highest price in facing the Israeli aggression, being on the front-lines of defending Lebanon and ending occupation," said Former Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, on Saturday.

In a statement issued by his media bureau, following Hezbollah Secretary General, Al-Sayid Hasan Nasrallah's address marking the 13th commemoration of "Resistance and Liberation Day," Hariri paid tribute to the souls of martyrs who fell on the road to liberation. He stressed that, "Victory of the year 2000 was a major outcome of the united Lebanese will and consensus over the Lebanese people's right to liberate and defend their land, by all possible means."

"This truth has been confiscated more than once ever since the year 2000," said Hariri; pointing out that Hezbollah and its followers have considered this achievement exclusive to one party or group, having the right to fight the enemy, aiming its weapons in a direction defined solely by Hezbollah itself.

"Today, on the 13th commemoration of the liberation of the South and West Bekaa, Hezbollah still insists on making this occasion purely factional," added Hariri.

"It even uses this occasion to accuse the Lebanese State, people and army of negligence at the national level, and of failing to provide the bases of sovereignty and defense; in addition to other accusations heard by the Lebanese only few hours ago, repeated by Hezbollah Secretary General, Al-Sayid Hassan Nasrallah, in a suspicious and dramatic way," said Hariri.

Hariri went on to note that Nasrallah denies the Lebanese state, people, army and civil society any confrontation ability. "Nasrallah believes that this State is incompetent and good for nothing; neither in politics nor in security, defense or economy," he added. "The solution for Hezbollah is for it to replace the State, keeping weapons in the Party's hands forever," noted Hariri.

"Nasrallah has addressed the Head of State, and all those who participated in the national dialogue table, informing them of his decision to cast away any and all discussions of a defense strategy," Hariri went on. He added that Nasrallah has urged all Lebanese to recognize the "State of Hezbollah" whose decision prevails over that of the Lebanese Republic!

"If you, dear Lebanese, wish to fight, Sayid Nasrallah has invented a genius 'fatwa': you Lebanese can fight on Syrian territories and can send fighters who are willing to die, to Al-Qusair and Homs," said Hariri, quoting the words of Nasrallah.

Nonetheless, Hariri stressed that regardless of Nasrallah's calls, threats, accusations, and all 'State" labels he may utter, the majority of the Lebanese, and certainly the Syrian people, view his speech on Saturday as "worthless in all national, political, moral, religious and human standards!"

Hariri added that Nasrallah has personally declared the Resistance's end on "Resistance Day!"

"The resistance has declared its political and military defeat in Al-Qusair," said Hariri, referring to Nasrallah's speech as being an "explicit declaration of falling into the abyss, while undoubtedly excelling in sectarian and confessional incitement as never before!"

"But the time of exploiting Palestine, the Resistance and national unity has come to an end," stressed Hariri.
