NNA - In a statement by Kataeb Party Head, former President Amine Gemayel's media bureau, it indicated that Gemayel left Beirut Sunday heading for Washington, where he will be delivering a lecture at the international research center, German Marshal Fund.


A luncheon banquet will also be held in Gemayel's honor, with a number of international political scholars attending. Gemayel will be connecting with a number of officials in the US Capital over the prevailing Lebanese and regional situations.


Furthermore, the statement indicated that Gemayel deliberated prior to his departure with former Prime Ministers Saad Hariri and Fuad Siniora over current conditions, in the wake of the cabinet's resignation and the security tension in Tripoli. Gemayel highlighted the current critical phase, which entails positivity in assessments and gathering around the table of national dialogue. "This has become a strict necessity at this delicate stage," he noted.


Gemayel added that the President of the Republic shoulders a great responsibility in holding parliamentary deliberations that denote a crossing pathway towards a national rescue government. Gemayel praised, herein, the role of the Lebanese Army and security forces, and the confidence they enjoy by the people.
