NNA - The Lebanese Forces on Monday ratcheted up the pressure on the Lebanese government, calling on its members to quit its "double entendre" language, and to adopt instead a clear foreign policy.
The LF's fresh stance came in statement which had been issued following the Party's regular meeting today, presided by Party Leader Samir Geagea, three days prior to the commemoration of the launch of March 14 Cedar Revolution 2005.
"The Lebanese cabinet should set clear foreign policies emanating from Lebanon's abidance by the Arab League and United Nations' charters and decisions," the statement read.
In this vein, conferees called on the cabinet to adopt an official stance from "Hezbollah's involvement in Syria's unrest, or else resign from the cabinet."
In its statement the Party censured the escalating pace of violations perpetrated by the Syrian regime against Lebanese territories, and called on the cabinet to deploy its legitimate forces along the Lebanese-Syrian borders -- in compliance with International Security Resolution #1701.
Touching on Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister, Adnan Mansour's most recent statements, especially his request at the Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting to give Syria back its seat at the Arab league, the Lebanese Forces held the government responsible for any repercussions to be sparked by such stances, which also tamper with the interests of the Lebanese and their daily living.
Besides, the LF also held the cabinet fully responsible for the institutional paralysis and economic deadlock currently evading the Lebanese scene, especially with the cabinet's failure to reach a final decision with regard to the salary scale quandary.
The Party also insisted to have elections be held on their set date.
"All should work hand in hand to come out with a new electoral law that ensures equity and proper representation among the Lebanese."
