NNA - "Change and Reform" Parliamentary bloc member Naji Gharios said that they proposed proportionality law in order to introduce a new political model to the Lebanese which would allow every citizen to actively participate in the elections.
Gharios told "Free Lebanon" radio on Wednesday that postponing the elections for technical reasons is a desire of some leaders whether in March 14 and authority in view of the short timeframe to agree on a new election law.
However, the MP said that if those leaders were more serious in their endeavors then they could reach agreement on a new election law within a month time.
Ghario expressed astonishment over the President of the Republic Michel Sleiman's announcement that he would contest the Orthodox plan before discussing it, wishing the President waited until the General Assembly voted on the law and then he would contest it in front of the constitutional council.
"The fair election law is proportionality which determines the size of all parliamentary blocs", he said, criticizing the suggestion to "combine proportionality and majority because election law is not a consolation prize.
