NNA - The Papal Ambassador to Lebanon, Gabriele Caccia, called for studying "the political reasons behind extremism ", confirming that cooperation between Muslims and Christians would lessen those problems.
Caccia's remarks came after a one-hour meeting with Scholar Al-Sayyed Ali Fadllalah on Thursday.
Discussions featured high on issues related to Islamic-Christian dialogue and relations, especially at this stage.
Caccia confirmed the Pope's concern in the incidents that storm the East, pointing that "the extremism issue is of great concern to the Church".
In his turn, Fadlallah said that religions called for dialogue on all levels, adding that Islam and Christianity constitute, in their spiritual depths, one position that rejects injustice.
He stressed the need to cooperate with the Vatican and its representatives over all issues that would protect human and preserve Divine values, pointing that the "Islamic-Christian communication is the foundation, and will prevail, whilst extremism phenomena will fade away".
