NNA - Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Mohammad Rachid Qabbani, on Monday received a series of phone calls, primarily from Lebanese President Michel Sleiman and House Speaker Nabih Berri, who condemned the fresh attack on him at Al-Khashekji mosque in Beirut.
Yesterday, the mufti had terribly been trapped at Al-Khashekji Mosque after mourners banned him from getting out, as protesting his attendance at the funeral of young martyr Mohammad Chaar, who died in the hospital where he was treated after a deadly blast targeted former Minister Mohammad Chatah in the Starco area.
The mufti also received in this concern many phone calls from senior political, religious and military figures.
Separately, he received Vatican's ambassador who presented him with a copy of the Pope's message to the world on the Christmas occasion. The ambassador also expressed solidarity with the mufti in regards to yesterday's story.
