NNA - Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi received on Tuesday the Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh with whom he displayed the economic and financial conditions in the country.
Rahi then received MP Nadim Gemayel who congratulated him on the upcoming holidays and discussed with him the latest developments.
Gemayel stressed - according to a statement issued by his press office - the need to hold presidential elections as scheduled constitutionally in order to avoid vacuum.
Separately, Patriarch Rahi met the Beirut Bar association chairman George Jreij with talks touching on the institutional vacuum and the failure to approve judicial appointments.
Jreij stressed the need for adopting a new electoral law and holding presidential elections on schedule. He deemed as necessary to form a government able to assume responsibilities to bring the country out of the crises.
Patriarch Rahi then held a meeting with Syrian Social Nationalist Party delegation headed by the party leader MP Assaad Hardan, with talks featuring high on latest developments, locally and regionally.
His Beatitude met later on with the Maronite League Chairman Samir Abi Lamaa who handed him a copy of the report of the General Assembly of the Association which was held last week.
