NNA - Caretaker Minister of Telecommunications, Nicolas Sehnaoui, and Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union, Hamadoun Toure, on Monday tackled the progress made by Lebanon on the telecom level.



The pair held today a joint press conference and shone light on the content of the ITU's fresh report, noting that Lebanon ranked 52nd out of 154 countries worldwide, and first on the level of the telecom sector's dynamics.



"The telecom sector is the most vital in the Lebanese national economy. It is the key motor of any economic activity in the country. We are confident that Lebanon will turn into a source of technology," the Minister told reporters.


"The telecom sector contributes to nearly 9% of the Lebanese GDP and it is scoring the highest ratios of growth," he added.
