NNA - Deputy Speaker Farid Makari said on Friday that he refused any ministerial statement containing the formula of army, people and resistance, reiterating calls for abiding by the Declaration of Baabda and withdrawing Hezbollah fighters from Syria.



"I am opposed to the presence of a blocking third in the government. However, a significant faction of Lebanese clings to it. So, I proposed to grant the power of the blocking third to all components of the cabinet," he explained in an interview with Radio Free Lebanon.



Makari stated his commitment to "national" decisions of the March 14 forces working to save Lebanese sovereignty, accusing the opponent of following a foreign agenda.



"March 8 Camp is a master in the art of showing regional changes as victories, although in reality they are defeats," he added, citing agreement to hand in Syrian chemical weapons and "Iranian submission" in the nuclear industry as examples.



He also ruled out the possibility of cabinet formation any time soon; noting, however, that the President and Prime Minister-designate would not allow political vacuum to rule the country and thus would form a fait accompli cabinet before the presidential elections.



The veteran politician asserted that the circumstances in the aftermath of the Iran-US agreement favoured the election of a new president.



Makari concluded by saying that that all Iranian- Saudi rapprochement would serve the interests of Lebanon, acknowledging recent remarks by House Speaker Nabih Berri who said that domestic solutions were now useless .
