Salam condemns electoral bribery and gun violence, vows firm legal action

NNA - Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday affirmed via his official account on X platform that the municipal elections in North Lebanon were successfully conducted under the responsible oversight of the Ministry of Interior.

Salam reiterated that electoral bribery, regardless of its source, will be met with strict legal measures.

“We will pursue investigations to uncover the origins of these violations and take the necessary judicial action. No one is above accountability,” the PM wrote.

Salam strongly condemned the use of firearms and celebratory gunfire that resulted in serious injuries, calling it “morally and legally unacceptable, and a disgraceful, backward practice that must stop.”

The PM confirmed that the relevant security agencies—particularly the Lebanese Army—have arrested several individuals involved in gunfire and pledged that there would be no leniency in continuing legal and security proceedings against offenders. He also urged citizens to refrain from such dangerous behavior, stressing that “weapons are not a means of expression nor a tool to impose realities outside the framework of the state.”
