NNA - Caritas Lebanon held a press conference on Thursday at its headquarters in Sin el-Fil, to rebuff all the recent fabrications, and respond to the charges of corruption against it.

Maronite Archbishop of Beirut Boulos Matar urged media outlets to hear the explanations of Caritas, highlighting the association's utter transparency.

Pastor of Jbeil Maronite diocese, Bishop Michel Aoun pointed out that "the 'Migrant Center' affiliated with Caritas grew rapidly, and due to the increasing number of displaced, an error occurred in the administration."

"Financial audit is being carried out by donors, in addition to internal auditing. The financial cost for 'Hope' Center matches the construction works that were carried out," he said.

Aoun stressed that "Caritas Lebanon carried out its mission professionally, and it is subject to a tendentious campaign aiming to undermine the Church. Administrative mistakes occurred yet there were no money squandering," noting that "where Caritas stands now is proof that all the employees are trustworthy."

Caritas calls upon the media to cover its work and not be the judge of its performance.
