NNA - Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Hamad Hassan, on Thursday welcomed Cuban Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Pellicer Moraga.

Discussions reportedly focused on the production process of Cuban anti-Coronavirus vaccines, and the possibility of Lebanon's participation in clinical trials.

Minister Hassan stressed during the meeting that Lebanon could only participate in the clinical trials of said vaccines if chosen by the World Health Organization to participate in them.

"This move could improve Lebanon's access to safer and more effective vaccines," he said.

For his part, the Cuban diplomat assured that he would closely follow up on the necessary contacts between the two Lebanese and Cuban health ministries in this regard.

"If an agreement is reached over this matter, clinical trials will begin soon in Lebanon," he concluded.
