NNA – Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Thursday received the European Commission’s Director-General for the Middle East and North Africa, Stefano Sannino, at the Grand Serail, accompanied by a European Union delegation and EU Ambassador to Lebanon Sandra De Waele.

Following the meeting, Sannino affirmed the EU’s firm backing of the Lebanese government and its reform agenda. “I conveyed to the Prime Minister the EU’s strong support for the ongoing reform efforts, as well as for the future reforms still needed in Lebanon,” he said.

Moreover, Sannino stressed that the EU remains a traditional partner of Lebanon, adding, “Today more than ever, the relationship between Mediterranean countries and Lebanon is not only economic, but also deeply political.”
