NNA - Caretaker Information Minister, Ziad Makary, alongside Levon Amirjanyan, Representative of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) in the Middle East, on Tuesday held a press conference at Télé Liban studios in Tallet al-Khayat to announce the relaunch of the French news bulletin.

The event was attended by Minister of Education Abbas al-Halabi, MP Simon Abi Ramia, and several ambassadors.

In her speech, Minister Makary’s advisor, Elissar Naddaf, expressed her excitement over the return of the French-language news broadcast after 24 years.

“Today, we are filled with hope and determination as we relaunch this broadcast, which is a commitment to the audience’s loyalty to Francophone values such as solidarity, democracy, and linguistic diversity,” Naddaf said.

In turn, Makary emphasized the importance of the French language in Lebanese media, describing it as not just a language but a shared culture and heritage.

The Minister also thanked the OIF and its partners for their invaluable support.

For his part, Amirjanyan underscored the critical role of media in maintaining linguistic diversity, saying, “The French-speaking population continues to grow, and we aim to strengthen cultural ties between French-speaking nations."

A cocktail reception followed the event. The French news bulletin will air on Télé Liban starting January 23, at 6:30 pm.
