NNA - President of the Republic, Michel Sleiman, on Monday called for keeping university polls a role model for democracy in our nation.



President Sleiman contacted by phone each of Caretaker Interior and Municipalities Minister, Marwan Charbel, Army Commander, General Jean Qahwaji, USJ Rector, Selim Dakkash, and security officials concerning the clash that erupted Monday at USJ Huvelin Campus.



Sleiman underlined that the spirit of sportsmanship should prevail, rather than undermining a victory or provoking a loser.



"The simplest democracy rules stipulate the recognition and acceptance of polls' outcome by all," Sleiman said, indicating that university students are most merited to exercise a democratic electoral competition.
