Italian Minister of Culture: We are making progress in combating antiquity theft

NNA - Italian Minister of Culture, Alberto Bonisoli, on Thursday stepped up calls for fighting antiquity theft and trafficking in the world.

"We have to eliminate the theft and black market of antiquities. We have been making progress in this regard, in cooperation with other countries," the Italian Minister said.

On the other hand, Bonisoli stressed the importance of Italian-Lebanese bilateral relations.

"Our shared wealth is a common heritage," he said. "It is important to invest in the cultural field because it preserves the people's heritage and provides job opportunities."

The Italian Minister concluded by poiting to Italy's valuable contributions in Lebanon, "especially those that aim at revamping the National Museum and the restoration of Tyre cemetery, as well as the museum's basement."
