NNA - Outgoing Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Thursday met in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, over the necessity of enhancing and developing bilateral ties between Lebanon and Turkey.
In the wake of the meeting, Erdogan expressed Turkey's regrets at the twin blasts that hit Beirut last Tuesday. He accordingly offered his deep condolences on the victims of the explosions and wished the injured people a speedy recovery.
The Turkish president also congratulated Lebanese and Lebanon on the 70th anniversary of the country's independence. He also assured that Turkey would always support Lebanon as concerning the Syrian displaced persons dossier and other files.
In this connection, Mikati said that Lebanon was feeling a necessity to reconsider the approach to said dossier, in a way that best complies with Lebanon's national interest and financial situation.
Mikati is expected to return to Beirut this evening.
