In his inaugural speech, Khoja reiterated the KSA government's support for this event "emanating from the KSA's firm belief in mutual Arab work, especially at the media level."

The Saudi Minister heaped praise on the many achievements of FANA at the level of positive cooperation among Arab news agencies "which managed to contain the colossal media revolution and to keep up with the burgeoning communications technology."

Khoja also capitalized on the increasing responsibilities of news agencies in line with media evolution.

"You are tasked to rise with news agencies and develop their professionalism, while simultaneously remaining keen on preserving augmented Arab cooperation," Khoja said.

He told conferees that FANA's conference coincided with the fourth News Agencies World Congress (NAWC), which opened Monday in Riyadh.

"This is an outstanding opportunity for Arab News Agencies to meet with their international counterparts for more communications and future coordination, not to mention exchange of expertise," he added.

The Saudi Minister concluded his word by wishing to witness further cooperation and coordination among FANA members.

In turn, the President of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) and Director General of Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ahmad Saad Al-Buainain, said that one of the most essential accomplishments of FANA was its success in preserving the federation's solid ties and accomplishing all its professional goals.

"Having the Arab Information Ministers boost the role of professional organizations working within the Arab league, as well as that of our federation, will help come out with the much sought vision that's capable of helping Arab News Agencies face challenges and keep up with modern media and information technology," he added.

In turn, the Director of the Saudi News Agency delivered a word in which he hoped that this conference would help contribute to revamp Arab mass media through drawing upon successful world media experiences and capitalizing on modern media and information technology.

He said that the Saudi News Agency was keen on tapping on major advancement in the area of modern media tools and methods and on upgrading the efficiency of journalists, as well as protecting journalists from potential risks while doing their job.

The first session of the conference witnessed a display of FANA's accomplishments, as well as the tangible media development in the region and its repercussions on the future of Arab agencies.

In the wake of the session, the National News Agency Director, Laure Sleiman, handed the President of the Federation of Arab News Agencies an honorary shield in appreciation of his outstanding role making the agency's work a huge success.
