NNA - Change and Reform Parliamentary Bloc Member, MP Alain Aoun, considered Sunday that the country is in great need of a new framework of understanding that can administer the differences in political balances, under the name of "Beirut Accord."


"The Free Patriotic Trend has recently opened-up to all parties in the country, in an attempt to break the deadlock which Lebanon is going through," added Aoun, speaking in an interview to Radio "Voice of Lebanon."

"We are witnessing today paralysis in several constitutional institutions; and there is no executive authority in the effective sense of the word, for no new government has been formed yet nor is the caretaking government active, and the parliament council is disabled," said Aoun. "Hence, we are trying as a Free Patriotic Trend to create a break in the wall that separates between the Lebanese and put an end to the status of waiting for developments in Syria," he added.


He further indicated that General Michael Aoun is trying to have a comprehensive national reading at the current stage, in light of the Syrian crisis coupled with rising sectarian tension in the country. He added that Aoun will not be ashamed of declaring his intention to run for presidency, if the appropriate circumstances are available in the coming few months.

On the other hand, Aoun expressed concern towards the deteriorating economic and financial conditions in Lebanon, disclosing that Lebanon has been downgraded as a result. "Hence, leading to higher debt interests, which will be added to the current deficit in State budget," he explained.


Aoun concluded that the solution lies not in the abolition of the "ranks and salaries" series, for this burden is necessary since it is the right of employees. "There are other charges which must be reduced, such as those resulting from shortcomings or wasted expenditures or negligence in other areas of the State," he noted.
