NNA - The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Derek Plumbly, on Wednesday visited Zahle and Jebb Jennine in West Bekaa, to inspect the condition of the Syrian refugees and the hosting local communities.



Plumbly met also with the representatives of the HCR and international relief organizations in Zahle.



In Jebb Jennine, the envoy inspected two projects which UNDP, HCR, and the municipality are executing. The projects are relevant to the solid waste management and potable water rehabilitation.



Moreover, Plumbly had an encounter with Syrian refugees concentrated in unofficial tents in Qobb Elias, to whom he confirmed that the UN and the international community shall carry on their help for them.


He also hoped a political solution to the Syrian crisis would be reached soon so that the refugees return home eventually.
