NNA - British Ambassador to Lebanon, Tom Fletcher, visited on Monday Beirut Bar Association to pass on good wishes on the decision by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to enlist the Association within the accredited unions for the quality of registration exams and the norms of law profession practice.
In line with SRA accreditation decision, Beirut Bar Association's lawyers are entitled to sit for the British exam to register as a solicitor.
Ambassador Fletcher boarded with the Association Dean, Nuhad Jabr, the various aspects of cooperation between the British academic and law institutions and Beirut Bar Association.
The British envoy heaped praises on the national role undertaken by the Association and its lasting defense of human rights.
"Lebanon and the United Kingdom have a history of cooperation in the domain of judicial and human rights' development programs," Fletcher said in his delivered speech.
Fletcher also regarded SRA's recognition decision as "important" falling in the framework of developing accountability and the Lebanese judicial, law system.
