NNA - Caretaker Minister of Telecommunications, Nicolas Sehnaoui, inaugurated today morning the second edition of DGTL#U at the Movenpick Hotel in Beirut.



The two-day forum is organized by Al Iktissad Wal Aamal Group and supported by the Ministry of Telecommunications in Lebanon and Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).



Speaking on the occasion, Sehanoui shed light on the Ministry's accomplishments and said that Lebanon ranked first in terms of the infrastructure development of the mobile communications' network.



"According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) report Lebanon moved from being number 7 in 2011 to being number 1 in 2012," he affirmed.



Caretaker Minister made clear that in order to allow Lebanon achieve the success of the countries it has been compared to, all Lebanese ministries and policy makers ought to cooperate.



"Digital economy requires an integrated process of development that allows us to talk more confidently about the topic of our conference today: digital marketing," he said.



DGTL#U will discuss how digital customers are embracing the new era of mobile usage, the role apps play in the customer experience and how to extract relevant and timely insights from this emerging platform.



With the increasing use of technologies such as social media, mobile, online, geo-location based technology, and touch screen, customers are rapidly becoming "smarter" and more demanding. Companies are inclined to adopt an online marketing strategy that has the potential to effectively widen their reach beyond the usual client base.



Being more cost effective than traditional marketing methods, online marketing also holds particular value to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which influx was empowered by the digital revolution.
This is why DGTL#U will focus on two modules: DGTL#Business - the digitization of businesses - and DGTL#Entrepreneur - the upsurge of tech entrepreneurs.
