NNA - MP Nadim Gemayel said Wednesday, in an interview with the "East" Radio station, that the research and investigation warrant against the Head of the Arab Democratic Party Ali Eid, and all the media talks about tanks of the Syrian regime guarding his house, were in no way surprising.
"The decision issued by the judiciary needed courage though," he said, assuring that the judges have made the right decision.
"I am not surprised that the Syrian regime is protecting the person who draws all his power from it to carry out the plan of sabotaging Tripoli and the North," Gemayel added.
"Some Lebanese are still betting on the state, the military institution and the principle of co-existence, and this is what prevents the country from collapse," the Kataeb MP noted, accusing some of the March 8 components of seeking to ignite internal war and transferring the Syrian conflict to Lebanon.
Asked whether the caretaker government could run the country after the expiry of the mandate of President Michel Sleiman, Gemayel said "If the president was actually keen on the role of the presidency and civil peace and if he refused to put the country in the hands of the evil forces (...), he must be act fast and work on forming a government as soon as possible."
Gemayel urged the Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam to either withdraw or form a government that spares the country falling into vacuum.
