NNA - Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade, Raed Khoury, issued a first notice today in which “the owners of private generators are required to provide electromechanical meters in accordance with the specifications approved by the Electricity Company and install them at the premises of generators' subscribers within the deadline of September 2018.”

The Ministry of Economy called on all subscribers to private generators to "cooperate with the generator owners in terms of securing those meters if they so wish, and to secure a place for installation in the common sections of their residential buildings," noting that "the installation cost shall be covered by the owner of the generator."

The second notice calls on all concerned traders to import and secure the additional market needs of electromechanical meters corresponding to the specifications, given the expected high demand for meters.

In this context, the ministry called on "generators’ owners to comply with the pricing issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water" and asked citizens "to report any violation by generator owners so that arrest warrants could be issued against them, and they could thus be referred to the competent judiciary."
