NNA - Prime Minister Saad Hariri received this afternoon at the Grand Serail former President Michel Sleiman in the presence of Hariri’s media advisor Hani Hammoud.
After the meeting, President Sleiman said: “I congratulated Premier Hariri on the Holy Month of Ramadan and on carrying the parliamentary elections which is very important for the state because without democracy states cannot survive.”
He added: “The main thing now is to form a government especially that the situation around us is very difficult and dangerous. This is why we have to preserve Lebanon’s neutrality. There should be a fast formation of the government that should regain control and not to keep things in the hands of illegal weapons. This needs determination and organization and there may be a transitional period of one or two years but in the end all things should be controlled by the state. I hope Premier Hariri will be renamed for the Premiership because this is in the interest of the country”.
Hariri received MP-elect Henri Chedid in the presence of the Future movement Secretary General Ahmad Hariri.
After the meeting, Chedid said that he congratulated Prime Minister Hariri on Ramadan, and thanked him for his support during the elections.
He said: “I wished him good luck and to form the government as soon as possible”.
Answering a question, Chedid confirmed joining the Future parliamentary bloc.
Hariri also received the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fath Ali and discussed with him the situation and the bilateral relations.
Earlier Hariri discussed with the President of the Economic and Social Council Charles Arbid issues related to the work of the council.
