NNA - The World Federation of Engineering Organizations, in cooperation with the Lebanese Architects Federation, organized Thursday their ninth international conference to examine the effects of globalization on architectural education, under the auspices of outgoing Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, represented by caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Ghazi Aridi, at Habtoor Hotel, Sin-el-Fil.



In a word delivered on the occasion, Aridi respectively dwelled on globalization, education, and reality.



"At a certain point, many thought that globalization meant controlling the globe, through unilateral decision-making, in a way that torpedoes the value systems of the various communities and societies on all cultural, scientific, economic, financial, educational, and political levels," he said.



"However, globalization is neither seclusion nor appropriation. In fact, there must be partnership in the world. Therefore, the architecture of the world and its policies cannot stem from one single place whose owners can be in command of what happens in the world with a remote control,' he explained.



He noted that said partnership ought to be based on respecting diversities and particularities of each society, community, and country, on all levels.



"Let us confirm partnership among us on the Arab level in general and in Lebanon in particular," he concluded.
