Ambassador Nawwaf Salam elected as Judge to International Court of Justice

NNA - Former Lebanese Ambassador to the United Nations, Dr Nawaf Salam, was elected as a new judge to the International Court of Justice ((ICJ) for a nine-year term.

The oath-taking ceremony was held last Tuesday at the ICJ Hall in The Hague in the presence of House Speaker Nabih Berri's Representative, Advisor Ali Hamdan, and Justice Minister Selim Jreissati's Representative, the first President of the Court of Cassation Judge Jean Fahed.

Attending the appointment ceremony had also been former Minister Walid Daouk, Lebanese Ambassador to The Hague, Abdel Stattar Issa, and scores of diplomats and academic dignitaries.

It is worth mentioning that the Lebanese Judge Fouad Ammoud assumed said post between 1964 and 1976.
