ISF apprehends man over insulting Virgin Mary

NNA - The Public Relations Department of the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces (ISF) reported that its intelligence unit had arrested in Kfarssir, South Lebanon, a Lebanese man (born in 1952) over insulting Virgin Mary.

In further details, the arrestee used a fake internet identity (Moustapha Sbeity) on Facebook and insulted Virgin Mary, which drew the ire of the social network's users.

An investigation has been opened. He acknowledged the facts and said that he had expressed his point of view in a moment of anger and drunkenness due to personal problems. He then deleted the texts at the request of one of his relatives.

The detainee was later handed over to the competent judicial authorities.
