NNA - Caretaker Sports Minister Faysal Karami on Thursday deemed that the security in Lebanon is a priority and is exclusively of the state's responsibility.



Caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports Faysal Karami declared today of the second step of the campaign he launched earlier, titled "Amanat Omar" which aims at immunizing Tripoli in the face of disasters and emergency incidents based on the concept of social solidarity, at a press conference held at the Karami family Palace in Tripoli.



Karami said that he had called earlier on the government and the Lebanese officials to adopt a security plan for Tripoli, similarly to the one being implemented in Dahiyeh, and he urged all politicians to explain the reasons behind not taking such a step.



After his call, Karami said that Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel told him that the plan was set, however, "what was preventing the implementation was the failure of political forces in Tripoli to provide the needed political cover."



Karami said that Minister Charbel's words were "important, serious and very necessary."



Having partaken in one of the meetings on Tripoli's security, Karami said he has heard outgoing Prime Minister and other political figures avow lifting the political cover.



"Here we are today hearing Minister Marwan Charbel affirm that the political cover still exists," he said.



"I refuse this reality and I hereby tell the state and to the Interior Minister that we, the residents of Tripoli, will lift this cover," he cried.



Caretaker Youth and Sports Minister called on the Northern City's residents, the institutions, civil bodies and all the community to rally and practice the right to self-defence and back the state in reinforcing Tripoli.
