Elections: Geagea suggests cheaper preregistration instead of biometric card

NNA - Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Thursday suggested replacing the elections biometric card with a pre-registration procedure, saying that this would spare the state $130 million.

"The new election law marked the adoption of the biometric card on the basis that it would authorize the citizens to vote from their place of residence and spare them the difficulty reaching their distant villages. The pre-registration procedure could ensure the same outcome and spare the state $130 million," Geagea said in a statement.

"We are in favor of pre-registration and cancelling the biometric card because we will get the same result for much cheaper," Geagea added.
