NNA - A delegation of the Development and Liberation bloc had been Tuesday to Bikfaya to meet with Kataeb representatives over a fresh initiative by House Speaker Nabih Berri in an attempt to exit the current gridlock in the country.



Lawmakers Yassine Jaber, Michel Moussa, and Ali Bazzi explained Berri's five-point plan to Kataeb MPs, with the party leader Amine Gemayel also attending.



"Severance among parties is a gap that must be bridged through communication and dialogue," MP Sami Gemayel told reporters following the one-hour meeting.



"Kataeb party encourages any initiative on rapprochement. Dialogue is certainly the door to reach a solution. We call for coordination on this level with the President of the Republic as he patronizes the dialogue sessions. Coordination is necessary to reach a balanced agenda that reassures everybody, which allows a constructive participation of all parties," he said.



"We hold onto Baabda Declaration which we deem as a prelude to venture into a constructive and fruitful dialogue, especially that the declaration is not a proposal of one single camp, but rather a mainstay for all participants in the dialogue committee. Its importance lies within the fact that it managed to bring closer those who are with and against the Syrian regime for the sake of dissociating Lebanon from the crisis next door. Therefore, the declaration is salient because it neither takes the state to this side nor to that; it yet dissociates Lebanon and the Lebanese from the reverberations of the Syrian crisis," he added.



On the government formation issue, Gemayel said the problem did not consist of the lineup but of the mission and the program of the next Cabinet.


"To us, what is important is to know what the government will do and not who it will include," he said.



Moreover, he renewed calls to reopen the dossier of the elections law through all possible channels so as to save time and to prepare for a climate suitable for holding free polls as per a law that complies with justice and fair representation.
