NNA - Member of Parliament Assem Araji accused Hizbollah of rejecting all initiatives to form a new cabinet by refusing the 8-8-8 formula and insisting on having the one third veto power.



"Forming a new cabinet does not suit Hizbollah at the time after its involvement in fighting with the regime in Syria," Araji told "Al-Fajr" radio on Monday.



He said that Speaker Nabih Berri's initiative "violates the authorities of the other presidencies (President of the Republic and Premier-Designate)", confirming that the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister-designate are the ones who are responsible for cabinet formation as mentioned by the constitution.



He stressed on the "need of dialogue", thanking Speaker Berri on his initiative and wondering whether the latter would be able to convince Hizbollah not to insist on the one third veto power and on having each bloc represented in the new cabinet according to its size in the parliament.



Responding to a question on his opinion regarding outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati's initiative which is to be announced soon, Araji said that "initiatives, regardless who presents them, would not lead to any result", pointing out that the alternative is that Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam presents a new cabinet formula to President Sleiman, as stated by the constitution.



Araji called for "strengthening the security apparatuses and widening the army's authorities."



Commenting on what happened yesterday (Sunday) in Zahle, Araji confirmed that "Hizbollah had installed a communication network in Zahle long time ago without the knowledge of the officials in the region," highlighting Zahle citizens' rejection to Hizbollah members' entrance to the town to fix any break down in the network.



Araji expected that Hizbollah would secretly fix the break down and carry on with its scheme in the region.
