NNA - Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Nohad Mashnouq, on Friday revealed that the legislative polls will take place before the end of the current year, adding that President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Saad Hariri have agreed to issue a decree on convening the Parliament in an extraordinary session.

Mashnouq effectuated a tour in the Akkar region today, and spoke during a ceremony in his honor in Bebnine-Abde, upon Mayors' Day.

"By simply looking around us, we see that all the isolationist schemes we faced with moderation have been defeated," he said.

"Saad Hariri is the epitome of Lebanese moderation," he added.

On the developmental projects in the north, Mashnouq said that plans were on the offing, awaiting "the moment of settlement," to render the region "from Tripoli to Akkar a vital economic platform within the framework of the reconstruction of Syria."

"There are huge projects which I know Prime Minister Hariri is working on with major states, so that there should be a tremendous economic opportunity for the north and the northerners after decades of deprivation," he concluded.
