NNA - Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister, Gebran Bassil, met on Friday with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Fathali. Talks between both men reportedly touched on the most recent political developments at the local and regional scenes.

"Lebanon is of great importance in Iran's foreign policy because of its role in confronting the Zionist enemy and Takfirist terrorism," the Iranian diplomat said.

He told press correspondents that the embassy in Lebanon had taken all the necessary steps to ensure that the vote of Iranian nationals takes place in the context of the current presidential election in Iran.

Separately, Bassil had an audience with EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Christina Lassen.

The diplomat handed the minister an invitation to attend the next meeting of the Lebanon-EU Partnership Council; a meeting to discuss common achievements between both sides.
