NNA - House Speaker Nabih Berri met on Friday at Ain Tineh residence a delegation from the Middle East Council of the British Conservative Party, led by MP Nick Herbert, and comprising of MPs Richard Bacon and Antoinette Sandbach.

Talks reportedly touched on most recent developments in Lebanon and the broad region.

On the other hand, Speaker Berri met with a delegation of the Maronite General Council, led by its head, former Minister Wadih al-Khazen, who hailed the Speaker as the safe valve for the unity of Lebanon and essential pier for the constitutional commitment in the country.

The delegation pressed for a new electoral law, as a mean to put terms to the scourge of institutional work disruption, which hampered the path of progress in building a modern, resilient state recognized for its life of pluralism and unique diversity of all religions, cultures and civilizations.
