NNA - Change and Reform Parliamentary Bloc Member, Alain Aoun, disclosed Sunday that General Michel Aoun is a candidate for the upcoming presidential elections.
"We shall continue to boycott the Parliament Council's sessions since our demands have not been tackled," added Aoun; stressing that his Bloc is not part of any dispute between the heads of parliament and government.
Speaking in a special interview to Al-Liwa'a Newsdaily to be published Monday, Deputy Aoun referred to current efforts exerted for coming-up with an initiative to unite various political forces together, as a preventive step against strife. "Such forces ought to distance Lebanon from incidents in Syria," stressed Aoun.
"We are in support of a national unity government, in light of current prevailing circumstances," said Aoun; adding that Hezbollah's military involvement in Syria does not deprive it the right to partake in cabinet.
MP Aoun continued to indicate that the Saudi Kingdom has a major role to play with regards to Lebanon's stability. He added that no preventive factors exist with regards to General Aoun's visiting of Saudi Arabia, if an invitation is extended to him, he noted.
