NNA - Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rahi, received on Thursday a delegation of young Lebanese people who are currently in Lebanon upon the invitation of the Lebanese Cultural Union in the world (WLCU).
The delegation was accompanied by the President of the WLCU, Michel Douaihi, and the Secretary General Tony Kaddissi.
The President of the Youth Council in the world, Dimas Shantiri gave on behalf of the delegation, a shield to the patriarch.
Doueihy stressed following the meeting that this delegation gathered young people from 14 different countries to allow them to give them the chance to get to know their homeland.
Rahi said that this visit was a great treasure for Lebanon, stressing the need for bolstering ties between the young Lebanese residents and immigrants.
"We look forward to cooperating with the WLCU, the Maronite League and the Lebanese Diaspora Institution," he said.
The Patriarch called on the Lebanese immigrants to preserve their presence by registering their civil status.
He said it was necessary for anyone to maintain his citizenship and identity, especially when it belongs to a country as Lebanon, where Christians and Muslims are equal.
Besides, Rahi met today with a delegation of Amal movement. The delegation invited Rahi to attend the ceremony of the commemoration of Imam Moussa el Sader's disappearance, on August 31 in South Lebanon's Nabatiyyeh.
