NNA - The Municipality of Bebnine on Tuesday fervently deplored the attack which targeted Sheikh Khaled Barakat, saying that an assault as such doesn?t only target the person of the Sheikh, but rather more targets all the residents of Bebnine and the entire region of Akkar.



Sheikh Khaled Barakat was shot and wounded in a fire attack that targeted a restaurant located in Abi Samra at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, NNA correspondent said.



Barakat was on his way back home after reciting the dawn prayer at "Al-Zafer" mosque.



"This is an attack against civil peace which Shiekh Barakat has always represented," a statement by the Municipality of Bebnine read, requesting that concerned security apparatuses swiftly unearth the identity of assailants.
