NNA - Information Minister Melhem Riachy met at his ministerial office with the follow-up committee of editors and staff suspended from work at An-Nahar newspaper, accompanied by lawyers Akram Azouri and Antoine Jabbour, with talks touching on the delayed payment of salaries owed to those employees.

After the meeting, Azouri said "we asked for Minister Riachy's urgent intervention to push An-Nahar newspaper to pay the 15-month salaries due yet still unpaid, especially after the recent statement issued by the newspaper on the availability of liquidity."

"The payment of these salaries must not be conditional," he said, assuring that the minister has promised his visitors immediate intervention with the publisher of An-Nahar.
