NNA - Member of Parliament, Boutros Harb, on Wednesday met with Prime Minister-designate, Tammam Salam, over the many challenges facing the cabinet formation process.
Both men saw eye to eye over the negative ramifications of any likely delay in the birth of a new cabinet.
"Many difficulties still surround cabinet formation endeavors, and the Prime Minister-designate is surrounded with conditions that fully contradict with the views he previously declared before the public opinion about seeking the formation of a robust cabinet that's capable of handling the troubles of the nation and the people," said Harb following his meeting with Salam.
"Every cabinet that's provocative and full of contradictions, as well as enjoys a team with the power to torpedo the cabinet at its wish, is a cabinet that's not good enough to face the critical phase that Lebanon endures," the lawmaker added.
Nearing four months since Salam's appointment, Harb cautioned that this was a pretty long period at the absence of any tangible progress. He also warned that things were headed towards a dangerous end.
"Some sides are still imposing conditions on the Prime Minister-designate, but he's refusing them," said Harb, noting that Salam enjoys a number of prerogatives that "he would like to make use of along with the Lebanese President."
However, Harb said that the whole matter depended on the "wisdom" of each of the Lebanese President and Prime Minister-designate, seeking the best ways possible out of the prevailing impasse.
