NNA - Caretaker Water and Energy Minister, Gebran Bassil, on Wednesday asserted before visiting U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy, Amos J Hochstein, that Lebanon was working in accordance with international norms and conditions, adopting as well all the required transparency measures in handling the oil excavation and exploration process.
On emerging, Bassil said his meeting with the U.S. diplomat had been an occasion to tackle new ideas involving oil issues. He also confirmed that positivity dominated all talks concerning this matter.
"But most importantly, Lebanon should not stop functioning amid the massive support it's getting with regard to oil-related matters," Bassil stressed, making clear that all the needed constitutional, political, and law elements were all ready, pending an extraordinary session by the Council of Ministers to issue required decrees.
