NNA - Lebanese President Michel Sleiman underscored the national role played by the Lebanese Army in preventing strife, apprehending tension and safeguarding national peace, indicating that the army, by itself, will carry on punishing on the military and judicial levels all those saboteurs and cruel that attacked its members.



Separately, Sleiman received at Baabda Palace the newly appointed Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, and discussed with him overall developments as well as ongoing talks under the frame of cabinet formation.



Afterwards, Sleiman received Lebanese Army Chief, General Jean Qahwaji, reviewing talks with the Syrian side relevant to the earthen mound in the Qaa region.
