Geagea: Hezbollah not serious in nominating Aoun, wants weak president

NNA - Lebanese Forces (LF) head, Samir Geagea, said that Hezbollah was not serious in nominating General Michel Aoun to head the Lebanese state, as the party neither wanted a true republic nor a strong president since such can weaken the party's role.

LF leader's stance came Monday in the context of an interview with German news agency.

"Hezbollah doesn't want currently electing a president, maybe it is awaiting the developments of the Syrian war. They tie the presidential file to other files in the region so as to acquire more benefits to them," said Geagea.

"I see that they want a president very different from Aoun, they want someone having weak personality so as to abide by their decisions - something that cannot be available in Aoun," he added.
