NNA - Prime Minister designate, Tammam Salam, met Tuesday at his Beirut residence with the Indian Foreign Minister, Sherry Ahmad Salman Khorchid, over the current general situation in Lebanon and the broader Arab region.

The pair also discussed the Lebanese-Indian ties and the means to develop them.

Salam later met with UN Humanitarian Aid Chief, Valerie Amos, accompanied by UNDP representative Robert Watkins.

Talks reportedly featured high on the condition of refugees in Lebanon.

"I discussed with the Prime Minister designate the current juncture in Lebanon which is hosting nearly tens of thousands of Syrians in addition to those already living here. We tackled the means to help the Lebanese families receiving the displaced and we underlined the necessity of economic stability in the country," Amos told reporters following the meeting.

"I also confirmed that the United Nations will not spare any effort to support Syrians inside Syria and those crossing borders to flee the war," she added.

"We will work with the international community to reach a political solution to the Syrian conflict and to secure stability there," she concluded.
