NNA - Lebanese Army Chief, General Jean Qahwaji, met Monday at his office in Yarze with the US vice State Secretary, William Burns, over the current general situation and the means to develop the US aid program for the Lebanese military, in light of fresh developments.



US Ambassador to Lebanon, Maura Connelly, and an senior accompanying delegation attended the talks.



The American party reportedly voiced appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Lebanese army in preserving stability, reiterating US commitment to enhancing the capacities of the military institution.



Qahwaji later met with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Derek Plumbly.



The pair discussed the coordination and cooperation relations between the army and the UNIFIL.
