NNA - Nobody could possibly substitute the Lebanese state, care-taker minister of Public Works Ghazi Areedi stated at the Ayn-Toura-based Lebanese-Canadian University graduation ceremony today.
No matter how potent one individual or political faction tend to be, they would never succeed single-handedly in their mission and they risks unbridled chaos with no army nor law-making system, Areedi added.
Areedi paid tribute to Ayn-Toura as the school where Kamal Jumblat first received his tutoring and formal education.
Also addressing top army and security brass attending the graduation ceremony, the minister credited the school with forming much of the cadres of the military-police elite.
He appealed to their sense of wisdom in casting aside sectarianism or religious extremism.
The care-taker minister reiterated the crucial importance of both army and state in cementing national unity and safeguarding people's dignity as well as ensuring a bright future for the young.
Areedi thanked the University for conferring upon him an honorary doctorate in appreciation for his political career and achievement.
