NNA - Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, discussed most recent developments on Tuesday with the EU Foreign Affairs chief, Catherine Ashton, and the EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Angelina Eichhorst, in presence of Amal Movement Foreign Relations official, Talal Saheli.
The meeting dwelled on latest local and regional developments as well as the social, security and economic repercussions of the Syrian events.
Berri confirmed, once again, that international efforts needed to be exerted so as to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
He rejected any weapons' providing to the rival parties, as "it only worsens the negative impact on Lebanon and the region."
Conferees also discussed the tragic situation of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon and the lack of sufficient assistance.
Later on, Berri met the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, with talks featuring high on general affairs.
