NNA - Former President Michel Sleiman affirmed that "the results of the municipal elections proved the state capable of respecting constitutional deadlines (...) and this should be the case when the second deadline of the extended House of Representatives is over."

Sleiman called to "speed up the election of a President of the Republic, which thus leads to the resignation of the cabinet and the formation of a new government, in addition to the adoption of a proportional electoral law."

On a different note, Sleiman tackled international affairs with the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Richard Jones, stressing "the need to take into account Lebanon's categorical rejection of any resettlement of either Palestinians or Syrians."

Sleiman called upon the international community to "help Lebanon which constitutionally, politically and popularly rejects any form of naturalization."
